Last year's Maiwanderung featured a dirndl malfunction, rainy weather, babies who would sleep wherever and whenever, and no map which resulted in a 10-mile hike. (Hey, it WAS super fun, but had to give you a synopsis!)
This year's hike involved my fun dirndl, iffy, but promisingly sunny weather, toddlers with eating and napping schedules, a map, and Grandma Bubbles and Grandpa!
Part of the crew wandering along. Suzanne (in her pink scarf and dirndl apron) had given birth just 3 weeks prior to baby Moritz who also joined us! Wow!
The ever-wonderful bierwagen.
This year, its owner Michael wasn't able to join us because he was on holiday in South America. The wagon was locked securely in his keller. Thank goodness he responded to an email allowing Joerg the combination otherwise according to Joerg, "We would have gone in with wire cutters!"

Snack time!
Lederhosen and flame socks. My boy's got style!
This is our second May 1st hike where in theory you hike to where a new May Pole/City Pole is being erected and join in the celebration. This is our second May 1st where we have never seen a new pole put in place, but have taken a picture in front of one with no meaning to the special day whatsoever.
A lunchtime stop for our wandering crew and a lunchtime stop for the ducks courtesy of William, Jeff, and Grandpa.
Thilo and Louis kickin' it meadow style
. . . and we were all home in time for dinner, bathtime, and bedtime.
Happy May Day, everyone!
