Munich Awesomeness

After living here for a little over a year, we find ourselves sometime saying things like, "Why don't we have this in the US?  This is the best thing ever."  We have decided it would be fun to keep track of these sayings to see how we can someday promote a utopian society when we do finally return.

So without further introduction:
Why Munich is awesome

• Beer gartens - after all, some of the best beer in the world and a relaxing fun place to be outside.  You can even bring your own food and just get cold beer.  The ultimate picnic.
• Lazy Sundays.  Everything's closed except for an occasional restaurant.  Sundays are for church, family, and friends.  What's not to love?
• 1 Euro cart fees.  It's simple:  place your Euro coin in the cart's slot and it's yours to use in the store.  Return your cart to its rightful place when done using it, and you get your Euro back.  No Costco cart chaos in a parking lot in Munich.  None.
• Maternity leave.  A woman gets 3 years, partially paid with a job-return guarantee.  Nice priorites.
• Paternity leave.  3-4 months.  Beautiful.
• Trustworthiness.  It is amazing how well society can function when people have integrity and people are trustworthy.  Loose your wallet in Munich - 3 things will happen: 1) They will find your address and bring it back to you, 2) they will turn it into someone to give back to you, 3) it will be left on the ground or placed on top of something so you can find it when you come looking for it.  Incredible!
• Bread.  Any day, fresh baked bread that is incredible on every corner.  Enough said.
