LA Uncle Visit

We were so excited to have Uncle Steven and David visit the first week in December. They truly experienced a week filled with memorable German Christmas festivities and new parent revelations. Highlights included:

  • visiting Weinachts Markts (Christmas Markets)
  • Gluhwein
  • watching Sarah take 30 minutes to get out the door to Marienplatz, only to get there, eat lunch and have only 15 more minutes left to shop before we had to turn around to go home! Still figuring out timing with a baby!
  • Gluhwein
  • an uncle-only overnight to Oberamergau
  • Sarah's SOS cell phone call from the diaper changing table in Franzikaner in der Au for more clothes for Will, for she had confidently strode to the bathroom with only a diaper and wipes not antcipating an outfit blow-out
  • Gluhwein
  • watching Will go ape on his playmat thanks to effects of caffeine in breastmilk. The boys went to bed at 11 while Will and his mom partied until the caffeine wore off around 1:30. She hasn't touched the brown stuff since.
  • buying every nutcracker in sight!
  • a trip to the medieval town of Augsburg to shop at the Weinachts Markt and see the angel show
  • laughing at the fact that 15 minutes before the angel show Sarah experienced poopapalooza 2009 at a diaper changing table in Augsburg. The grand event involved the destruction of 4 diapers, projectile poo squirted on the bathroom wall, consumption of two travel packs of wipes, complete viewership of the ladies line in the bathroom, the tossing of paper towels from sympathetic mommies with a front row seat in the bathroom line, and an extremely nervous sweaty Sarah!
  • Sarah emerging from the coffee shop restroom only to hear the music end and see the lights come up signalling the end of the angel show. Sigh. Better luck next year!
  • great laughs and quality time with two great bros
And . . .

  • Gluhwein!

Footnote: should you crave any Gluhwein while in the states, please visit www.gluwein.net. Here you can order gluelwein syrup to mix with any type of red wine (we hear 2 buck chuck works just fine). This footnote sponsored by my Gluhwein-loving brothers. :)
